Dr Brandon Carp
Executive Chairman & Co-founder

Dr Brandon Carp graduated medicine with honours in 1987 and continued in clinical practice till 2008. In 1997 he founded UHG and was Managing Director until 2014 when he assumed the role of Executive Chairman. Brandon has a history of driving innovation in healthcare having been a co-founder of Salus Healthcare and Dr Know Magazine and in 2014 was nominated for Australian EY Entrepreneur Of The Year. Brandon holds an honorary position at Monash University’s Department of Public Health and Preventative Medicine.

Rob Farmer
Chief Executive Officer

Rob has over 20 years experience in Executive roles helping organisations deliver better outcomes to clients by building high performing teams, developing smart business processes the leveraging the latest technology. Throughout his career Rob has worked in a diverse range of environments delivering advanced IT and sophisticated service solutions to top tier corporates and government organisations.
Prior to joining UHG Rob was CEO of ASX listed Real Estate Corp Limited and is currently a Board member of Care Connect.

Nicky Carp
Executive Director & Co-founder

Nicky has more than two decades’ experience in the healthcare sector, commencing with law firm Philips Fox and then for the past 17 years at UHG, initially overseeing areas including legal, finance, IT and HR teams. Since 2014, Nicky continues to provide legal, financial and strategic input as a board member and chairs the Financial & Risk Committee. She has Bachelor degrees in Law, Economics and Accounting from Monash University and is a Member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and Scale Investors.

Nicky is Treasurer for NGO Stand Up, past women’s mentor in the Foundation For Young Australians (FYA) Young Social Pioneers program and proud mum of 3 boys.

Grant Williamson
Executive General Manager - Technology & Digital Innovation

Grant is responsible for ensuring our IT strategy lines up with our business strategy. He also seeks opportunities to further leverage our technology assets in both Australia, and new markets such as Asia. He brings a wealth of experience in e-health, insurance and technology. From 2005 to 2013 Grant was the General Manager of Zedmed Medical Software Solutions. Prior to that, Grant was General Manager of Medtech Global. He has previously spent almost two years working in Singapore, and has recently been working on an opportunity in South East Asia.

Rob Goodwin
Chief Operating Officer

Rob joined the UHG team in 2016 and has extensive commercial experience across a range of industries including finance, insurance and health.  Most recently Rob has been employed by Medibank and FleetPartners where he worked in executive leadership roles across Sales, Marketing and Operations, providing him with a well-rounded perspective on the importance of delivering world class propositions and experiences for our Corporate and Provider customers.  Rob is MBA qualified and also has broad consulting experience, specialising in business process re-engineering and business optimisation.  Over the past 15 years Rob has led a range of large teams to deliver exceptional business and operational performance across Australia & New Zealand.

Derek Brand
Chief Strategy & Client Solutions Officer

Derek has over 20 years experience in healthcare having worked as a Practitioner, Executive and Strategy Consultant with a keen focus on delivering client value through problem solving, innovation and the smart application of technology. In recent years Derek has worked with brands such as Medibank, McKinsey & Co, Telstra and Health Services Australia. He originally qualified as an Occupational Therapist but has since completed his MBA in 2008 at Melbourne Business School and has qualified with AICD. His clinical background seeded his interest in health but also a well-rounded approach to leading teams, people and operations.

Now Derek and his team devote their entire attention to working with clients to co-create high value, innovative solutions to contemporary business problems.

Marcus Waterreus
General Manager - People & Culture

Marcus has over 15 years of progressive HR experience covering multiple industries including Communications, Hospitality, Technology and Retail, with demonstrated success in talent management, change management, employee engagement and organizational culture. Marcus joined UHG following a number of years at Coles where he worked in several HR roles across both retail operations and in their Store Support Centre in Melbourne. Marcus is passionate about people and he and his team take a creative, hands on approach to aligning UHG’s people strategy with our corporate objectives. He is at his best when he’s helping to create great places to work!

Andrew Bassat

Andrew is the CEO and Executive Director of Seek Ltd which he co-founded in 1997.

He has been involved in all stages of the development of the business since then.  In particular, he has driven the strategy of the group and led the creation and development of the international and education businesses.

Prior to co-founding SEEK, Andrew was a management consultant with Booz Allen & Hamilton and a solicitor at Corrs Chamber Westgarth.

Andrew holds a Bachelor of Science (Computer Science), a Bachelor of Laws (Honours) degree and a MBA from Melbourne Business School.

David Thodey

David is Chair of CSIRO and the Chair of JobsNSW. Previously David was the CEO and Executive Director of Telstra from 2009 to 2015. David was also CEO at IBM ANZ. In 2013 David joined the Board of the GSM Association. He is also co-chair of the Infrastructure and Investment Taskforce of the B20 leadership group. David has a keen interest in basketball, and was previously Chairman of Basketball Australia. He is a passionate technologist and interested in customer centred transformation of businesses.

Antony Cohen

Antony held positions as a partner at KPMG for 28 years. He was CEO of Better Place Australia. Together with Evan Thornley, Antony recently established SBDO to focus on building growth businesses with an innovation focus. Antony brings a wealth of experience in finance and risk management. He has played many community roles including former treasurer of Bialik College, council member of Questacon, current Treasurer of the Australia Israel Chamber of Commerce and Chairman of AUSiMED.

Justin Liberman

Justin is a co-founder of Square Peg Capital. He is also Principal and Chief Executive at Jagen, a family office with investments across all major sectors. He brings 18+ years experience in early stage investment in technology companies. Justin is actively engaged in venture and growth investing in Australia, US and Israel and is passionate about emerging trends and translating them into investment strategies. Justin is a Social Capital investor in Adara Partners (www.adarapartners.org). Justin holds a Bachelor of Laws and a Bachelor of Economics.

Adrian Mackenzie

Adrian MacKenzie is the founder of Five V Capital. His recent success includes the acquisition of Ascender, Australia’s leading payroll provider, becoming the major shareholder in Madman Film & Entertainment, and the successful exit of an investment in Mysale. His venture capital investments include Canva, Sitemider, ImageBrief and Parcelpoint. Prior to Five V Capital, Adrian was Managing Partner and board member of CVC Capital Partners for 17 years. During this time, he completed many significant transactions including Pacific Brands, Tech Pacific, Affinity Healthcare and Nine Entertainment.
