Our Environmental Responsibility
The health of our planet is paramount to support the health of our people. UHG is committed to achieving an industry best practice position in terms of environmental outcomes and will endeavour to incorporate ecologically sustainable development principles into its operations. These commitments will be met by:
- Encouraging all employees, contractors and suppliers to act in an environmentally responsible manner and ensure that they are made aware of their responsibilities to support our environmental policy
- Providing the resources, information, skills and training necessary to assist UHG’s employees and contractors to continually improve environmental management practices
- Fostering the initiation and ownership of environmental activities by UHG staff and contractors and promoting a culture of responsible environment management at UHG
- Implementing and managing systems to plan, document, measure and monitor environmental performance, including reviewing objectives and targets
- Incorporating environmentally better practice into UHG’s core business plan and management processes
- Using natural resources responsibly to minimise the negative impact had on the environment
- Implementing pollution prevention practices through the efficient use of resources to reduce emissions and waste
Our 'green' commitment was illustrated by our significant investment in 2008 in our new Data Management System. This has enabled UHG to reduce the amount of paper it produces by over 150,000 printed pages per month.
